The director of a hospital in Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in China, has died from the illness, according to a report.

Dr. Liu Zhiming, who was head of Wuchang Hospital, was killed by the virus that broke out in Wuhan in December, the Telegraph reported, citing state media.

The virus, known as COVID-19, has killed at least 1,770 people in China and spread to more than 70,000 others.
